Email help
What is
an email alias?
An alias is
an email address that attaches to an existing POP3 email address.
You attach an alias to an existing POP3 mailbox where all incoming
mail for the POP3 and attached aliases will arrive. When you check
for new mail at this mailbox, you will also receive the mail from
any email aliases attached to it. You can attach as many aliases
to a mailbox as you wish.
What is
a POP3 address?
A POP3 address
is a mailbox/email address which can stand alone and has its own
login user name and password. Used as a stand-alone account without
any aliases attached, it can be a personal or business-personal
email address which receives and sends specific mail. It can be
individually security protected with a password. Your first UKF
email address is a POP3 account.
What is
a hostname?
A hostname goes
after the @-sign in the email address, but before the .ukf.net part.
You don’t need to use a hostname but some users like to further
individualise their email addresses with, perhaps, company names,
street names or simply their second name. For example, a family
might want to use the name ‘smith’ as their hostname. You then have
the option of setting up email addresses such as david@smith.ukf.net,
or you can receive all the mail sent to ...@smith.ukf.net in one
mailbox, using any name in front of the @-sign. The hostname you
select for your email addressing will be used for your web-space
should you decide to use it, eg www.hostname.ukf.net.
How do
I receive all mail sent to a hostname in one mailbox?
Simple. When
setting up a new POP3 mailbox, don’t enter a user name, then select
the hostname you want to receive all incoming mail on. Now, any
name in front of the ...@hostname.ukf.net will arrive in one mailbox.
(This is subject to the hostname being wholly available and no other
user has selected to also receive their mail on this hostname.
